For all Peru and Lima lovers, there is a district in the Peruvian capital where one feels good walking and meeting with friends or family, exceptionally in case of nice weather. This district is Miraflores!
Miraflores is one of Lima’s most appreciated districts, not only by tourists but also by expatriates in general. Indeed, it possesses all the pros of a modern district as you can find in the western countries: pedestrian streets, shops and shopping centers, many bars and restaurants, and above all, a wonderful view over the Pacific!
I’ll present you a few ideas of fun activities for a happy Sunday in Miraflores.
The Kennedy Park is one of the most central places in Miraflores and generally an ideal meeting point when you don’t know the district. Perfect for family walks and really close to the main bars and restaurants, the Kennedy Park fascinates many tourists for only one reason: the dozens of cats chilling around every corner of the park! These cute cats are part of the landscape and sometimes sit on the visitors knees to have a nap! But where are all these cats coming from? I’ve heard somewhere that the city council had decided to drop the cats in the park in order to get rid of the little rodents…Truth or fantasy? Everyone is free to have his own opinion! 😉
Coffee break at Larcomar Shopping Center
Starting from the Kennedy Park, take the Larco Avenue until reaching the “malecón” (sea front), where you will enjoy the wonderful view over the Pacific. Apart from its perfect location, Larcomar Shopping Center possesses many boutiques for the most addict shoppers, as well as little cafés where you will taste some local specialties enjoying the view over the sea. Coffee or cocktail? YOU decide! 😉 If you choose a local cocktail, I recommend you the Maracuya Sour (made of Pisco and passion fruit), or the Algarrobina (a cocktail made of algarroba, which makes me think of Baileys). The Shopping Center also has a bowling and cinema, which could be a good option to end the day with your family or friends! 🙂
Parque del Amor – a romantic walk
From Larcomar Shopping Center, you will easily join the Parque del Amor (the “love park”) walking a few minutes. This park, which was inaugurated on February 14th 1993 (on Valentine’s Day!), has become the meeting point of all lovers in Lima. Many newlyweds come here with their bride’s bouquet in the hand, kissing in the Parque del Amor as a sign of love and commitment.
An amazing sculpture of the Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín, representing two young lovers embracing each other, is chairing in the middle of the park. Apart from the beautiful view over the Pacific Ocean, this park remembers many European tourists of the Güell park in Barcelona, thanks to its multicolored mosaics. To conclude, the Parque del Amor is the ideal place in Miraflores to rest and enjoy an amazing landscape, no matter if it is with your lover, your family or friends! 🙂

Paragliding for the adreline!
If you’re looking for a more challenging activity in Miraflores, why wouldn’t you try paragliding? 🙂
At only a few meters away from the Parque del Amor, paragliding jumps have been organized the whole day from the top of the cliff. The climatic conditions are ideal for this type of activity, it really would be a pity not to try it! It is not necessary to book the paragliding jump in advance. Just come on the D day and buy your ticket on site. You will make the jump according to the time of arrival.
Paragliding jump price in Miraflores: S/. 240 per person (about $71 / 65 €) – Includes the jump GoPro video as a souvenir!
Jump duration: 10-15 minutes
Another great weekend idea in the Peruvian capital!
