Discovering and tasting chocolate in Lima
Walking around the beautiful district of Miraflores, just have a gourmet break at the chocolate museum (el choco museo) on the Berlin street (calle Berlin)!
At this place, you will be explained how the Peruvian cocoa has been transformed and above all where it comes from. You will also discover that most of the production has been exported abroad (above all to Europe) and that only little cocoa is remaining for local consumption.
The museum organizes chocolate workshops for children and adults (mandatory registration!). Inside the museum, you can attend the chocolate preparation and also taste some specialties!
Then just have a seat on the coffee corner and order some chocolate sweets (for example chocolate sweet with pepper, passion fruit, orange or coconut), with a glass of cocoa liqueur! A real delight to enjoy as much as you like! 🙂
A very nice boutique is also waiting for you if you wish to buy some souvenirs. I personally recommend the cocoa tea, which is just amazing and costs about 4 €. It is simply cocoa shells 100% natural to be infused in hot water, just like a normal tea.
This brings up our childhood flavours of a real and delicious hot chocolate! 😉
